Once-upon-a-time an Auto LP gas conversion garage, Bodriggy's home is located in Melbourne’s inner north. Venture beyond the faded yellow brick façade of 245 Johnston St, Abbotsford, and you’ll find our Brewery, Brewpub, bottle-shop and Stingrays Upstairs cocktail saloon, flanked by exposed brick, brew tanks, greenery and polished concrete floors.
A sprawling warehouse in the heart of Abbotsford, Bodriggy Brewpub is a culmination of community, quality and easy-accessible craft-beer, and a passionate dedication to music and the arts.
Fresh froffs stream in from the Brewery out back with experimental hazy sour beers released monthly alongside the core range favourites: Utropia Pale Ale, Cosmic Microwave NEIPA, Staunch Pilsner and Fuzzy Dance Explosion Sour Ale. If you’re here for the beers, we have everything from draught through to geeky DIIPA hazy fruited sours.
But froff is only just one strength we play to. Local pet-nat? We have that on tap along four other wines. Tequila or mezcal? You bet. Just consult our educated staff or towering, soft-glowing shelves behind the bar. There’s margarita specials Mondays and our house Michelada is the ultimate refresher, enjoyed with a hangover or without.
The ‘foods’ are courtesy of Dominguez Kitchen (a.k.a Johny Dominguez), features light, fresh and zingy Latin American food that’s somewhat familiar but includes some interesting diversions. Anticuchos – a sort of Peruvian satay or shish kebab are the ultimate beer snack. Other hits include elote (corn on the cob), big plates of pulled pork and a zippy take on ceviche. This menu makes it worth coming here just to eat, regardless of anything else.
Carefully divided between big, group-friendly trestle tables, smaller stand-up tables and a quasi-restaurant area with comfy banquettes, booths and smarter finishes–the space seems smaller than its 400+ pax license.
In the middle, a tree stretches out of a gigantic rusted-iron planter box to tickle the rafters. Courtesy of a DJ and dual Funktion-One speakers, there’s a real night time energy here, without it being overly loud or nightclub-y.
